Check it out you guys!!! Polaris Banks, the director, put up a montage of clips from the Casey Jones movie. A couple of scenes we filmed are in here. I’m the one doing the awesome ninja kick. Just kidding :)

Several months ago I responded to one of the greatest casting calls to ever appear on craigslist. A Casey Jones fan film was being made in Austin, and they needed extras to play Foot Clan Ninjas.

In case you don’t remember, Casey Jones is the guy with all the hockey sticks that beats up thugs in the Ninja Turtles movies. Here’s a clip:

Time went by, and I never heard back about the movie. Then, about two weeks ago, I got an e-mail with the details of the shoot!

Needless to say, I was excited.

Josh Pruett and I both went. Here’s a picture. This one’s for you, Mel :) I’m the fat one on the right:

Here’s one of us without our masks on:

The best part of the night was when Michelangelo arrived. It was SO AWESOME! He looked real. The costume was having a few makeup problems, but since he was moving around a lot in all of his scenes, it didn’t matter. Here he is in all his epic glory:

You can see on his hands where it was messing up, but as these next pictures show, you won’t be able to tell in the final video. Check it out:

Doesn’t he look real?!? It was incredible – like being a kid again!

Watchmen

watchmen

I’m in a rush this morning, so I’m going to review Watchmen. Briefly. And then I’m going to get to work.

CRITIQUES

1. Acting – exceptionally poor, especially from Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandius

2. Nudity – completely unnecessary and overdone

3. Soundtrack – ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHAT MORON PICKED THE MUSIC FOR THIS? HE SHOULD BE SHOT, AND THEN DEVOURED BY WOLVERINES

4. Length – seriously, this movie was boring

COMPLIMENTS

1. Visuals – awesome

2. Changed Ending from Comic – added to the strength of the story

3. Accurate representation of the comic – thought they did a good job at this

DON’T GO SEE WATCHMEN OR YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED

The End

The Spirit (Artwork)

I have to say, as much as I love Frank Miller, I think The Spirit is going to suck. Style is great, but it can’t be the only thing that carries a movie. Frank Miller knows this – his stories are fantastic. The Dark Knight Returns is without question the best Batman story ever written. But The Spirit? Sorry… It just doesn’t do it for me.

The artwork, however, does. Man, what I wouldn’t give to have been the one who produced this poster.

TRON

I just got to watch TRON on the big screen. I think I’d been waiting for that moment all my life. It was like a religious experience. I was sitting there mouthing the words to every line in the movie.

When I was at the beach with Micah, I was blessed by God. He had a copy of the East Indian action film Dhoom, with English subtitles, and we watched it, and we were in awe.

You guys, it’s an action movie musical. That’s right. There are no less than five songs throughout the whole film, and between them, guys are blowing each other up and doing aerial stunts on motorcycles.

What’s amazing about this movie though is that it’s actually good. The stunts are really good, the cinematography is great, and the acting… well, the acting is at least enough to keep you interested.

If you want to watch Dhoom, I have no idea how you’re going to do that. But if you manage to find a copy, I promise you, you’ll be laughing, but you’ll be riveted.

The image above is from Dhoom 2: Back in Action, but the video clip is from the original Dhoom.
