This is a sample pic I retouched for a job application today. The photo itself is horrible, but I picked it because the hard light on the skin makes the original really difficult to retouch. Anyway, I didn’t take it as far as I could have, but I think I did a pretty good job, all things considered.

Btw they do way more than this to every person you see on the cover of a magazine.

Congratulations, Dave! Morpheus and Neo from The Matrix. This was a hard one. Way to go!

These new ones have been more cryptic. The reason is because at first I was experimenting with your ability to recognize a specific face based solely on one feature. Now I’m testing your subconscious mind. In the last three of these, people have made what to them seemed like total guesses. But those guesses turned out to be right… so how does that work? There are hundreds of thousands of movies to choose from. Is it really just random chance that you decided to guess what you did?

Round 2 – More of the image has been revealed. This is the max amount of the image you get for this one. Next will be an audio hint.

Guess the name of the person represented in the movie still above. You get 5 points for the name of the person, 3 points for the name of the character, and 2 points for the name of the movie. Over time more of the picture will be revealed, and if you still can’t guess it, I’ll add an audio hint. Good luck!

There are two people represented in this image. Guess the name and character of the second person for a five point bonus!

Answer: Daniel Day Lewis as Nathaniel in Last of the Mohicans. Don’t know how you guessed it so fast, but I’ll give you the full ten points, even though you didn’t guess the character name. Nice job, Daniel.

Eternally Boring

I had a couple of days off this week, so instead of being responsible, I decided to veg out on a video game. Since I’ve exhausted the supply of good rentals from my local Blockbuster, I chose a quaint little game called Eternal Sonata.

Okay: What’s with JRPGs? They suck. They all have these stupid long cut scenes every five minutes, gameplay is LAME, the characters are all shallow and way too emo, the costume design is absurd and non-functional, and the music all sounds the same. About the only redeeming thing is that they usually have great set design and lighting.

Eternal Sonata is no different. It’s a big stinky piece of crap dipped in sugary artistic vanilla sauce and sealed with a pink ribbon. I can’t believe anyone would actually play this game longer than I did – and I skipped all the cut scenes.

If you’re thinking about renting this game, don’t waste your time.

The new Metalocalypse episode finally arrived on Cartoon Network today. It’s called The Revengencers.

What a cool title! Combining two words that mean almost the same thing into one word that means the same thing but way more brutal. Awesome. Metalocalypse creators, you are geniuses.

USAA and Weird Stuff

Spider House has several sister stores. One of them is the United States Art Authority, which is a really cool bar that is also an art gallery. This is a picture of the bar part. It’s super weird and I love it.

Speaking of super weird, check out this stool I saw at a thrift store yesterday:
